Two-stroke Piston Kits As the OE supplier of two-stroke pistons to KTM, Vertex pistons has an outstanding reputation for quality and performance. Each gravity cast piston is created with only premium aluminum alloys utilizing an 12-21% silicon content. The silicon content in Vertex pistons is crucial to the quality of the piston. Silicon is critical in decreasing thermal expansion which, when an engine reaches normal operating temperatures, can change the geometry of the piston. Controlling this expansion means that a Vertex piston can be run at tighter tolerances for more power, less noise and a longer lifespan of the piston. Plus, the silicon content decreases wear on the piston skirt which also aids in the life of the piston. In addition to the silicon, each Vertex piston utilizes a unique Molybdenum Disulphide (MOS2) coating which aids in the break-in process and reduces overall wear. Four-stroke Pistons When it comes to power and performance, Vertex four-stroke pistons are hard to beat. Forged from the highest quality 2618 aluminum alloy, Vertex pistons are perfectly suited to handle the rigors and high pressures of today’s modern four-stroke engines. Plus, to aid in the break-in process and reduce wear, every Vertex piston utilizes a unique Molybdenum Disulphide (MOS2) coating on the piston skirt. But, what truly sets Vertex apart from the competition are the unique piston profiles and compression ratios that are offered in A, B, C and D sizes. This variation in sizing, a mere 0.004 , allows the piston to be perfectly sized to the cylinder for maximizing power and performance while reducing blow-by and oil consumption.
Italian made pistons and rings are designed to be an O.E.M. replacement.
Gravity cast aluminum alloy with an 18-20% silicone content for a light, strong piston.
Molybdenum bisulphide coated piston skirts for increased piston life.
All pistons are heat treated with a T-5 hardening and tempering cycle.
